A family gathering at our house on a weekend. As Jiaxin was too young to travel far then, my parents, Qian, Hui and her kids had came over to visit us.

The kids had a good time playing together and jumping in the playpen. :) I am glad the kids are getting on very well, especially Jieming and Yaoren who are about the same age. Jieming shared toys with Yaoren voluntarily and Yaoren also reciprocated. So I thought that Yaoren has learnt to give, and to share, but later he took Rui-En's water bottle and refused to return. Rui-En cried but Yaoren was unapologetic. Guess we still need to work a bit more on this, cos sometimes Yaoren was jealous when Jiaxin was playing with his old toys.

No Business for Yun Nan

Same as Yaoren, Jiaxin has alot of hair when she was born and like me, their hair colour is a little brown. Unique huh? :D

I remember that when Yaoren was born, he had very long hair, much longer than Jiaxin's, and his hair kept 'standing up' all the time, like Dragonball's. He also had golden face hair then, which makes him look very special. :)

Jiaxin had very neat hair when she was born, as though she had combed it before meeting us parents for the first time. She was also more hairy than Yaoren. When I first saw her, I was quite surprised to find that she has got so much hair. Cos Jiaxin has got hair on her forehead, ears and arms, I thought it was not very ladylike. Luckily now it's not so obvious and she is looking prettier day by day! :)

Yaoren sitting on the sofa and playing with the house telephone. Cool huh? He was very interested in playing with telephones and talking to don't-know-who then. He would quickly take other people's handphones whenever he could and talk happily, after pressing some buttons on the phones. He could also differentiate a real handphone from a toy handphone and is totally not interested in the latter. So sometimes he would play with our handphones when we leave them within his reach and would not let us subsititute it with a toy handphone. :( But then again, sometimes he would play along with us when we use the fan remote controller/calculator/unused diaper/soft toy/hand as a handphone. It all depends on his mood. Haha

The MacDonald's Outing

Aiksoon wanted me to list a few things I would like to do before I gave birth, so that I will 'obediently' go into confinement (I disliked confinement mainly cos I hated not being able to bath). I listed down a few things, and going to MacDonalds's together and having hotcakes for breakfast was one of these. :)

Hence a month before I gave birth, our family of 3 went to MacDonald's. Attached are some pics of the outing, with Aiksoon feeding Yaoren food and him asking me to take pics of them having MacDonald's breakfast.

Then Yaoren befriended a little girl who was very nice and friendly. They kept smiling at each other... till Yaoren caught sight of another beautiful girl who, regrettedly, was walking side by side with her boyfriend. Too bad... haha

A very nice picture of both father and son! I think this pic shows how close they are. Between me and Aiksoon, Yaoren prefers him more. I guess it's because Aiksoon plays with him more often. I was also pregnant then and now I have to take care of Jiaxin (Adelaide), that's why Aiksoon has the opportunity to 'snatch' him away from me. :/

During my 2nd pregnancy period, we noticed Yaoren started to become naughty and cranky. He would cry and throw tantrums often. I remember that when he went to bed every night, he would cry alot. I could also sense that Yaoren was hurt, perhaps it's because he thought that we do not love him anymore now that we have another baby. We had prepared him by telling him he is going to be a big brother soon and that we will love him all the same, but it did not help much. His crankiness finally ended when I gave birth to Jiaxin. He is still jealous of his sister though, at times bullying her. But he is becoming better already, they can now be placed side by side and Yaoren will even try to pass her a toy. Will show you the pic soon! :)

Yaoren can walk now, after just 2 weeks of 'intensive' training. Actually he can learn to walk much earlier, but his development was delayed by my second pregnancy.

Aiksoon wants Yaoren to play with toys that are more hands on so he bought Yaoren these toy tools. Yaoren was interested in these toys for a while and even played with the toys in his bathtub. But kids being kids, he grew tired of the toys quickly and now, some of these toys are broken. :/

Haven't posted for months hehe
Was lazy at first and then now, Adelaide kept me busy all day :/

Here's a pic of Adelaide Pek Kah Sing, born on 22nd Dec 2008. She is shorter and has a heavier birth weight (48cm, 3.49kg) than August (52cm, 3.33kg). Her birth weight was a surprise to us though, since at 37th weeks, she was only 2.7kg, which means she grew about 790g in the last one and half weeks! I can't remember what I've eaten. I only remember I had to finish all the food I bought during pregnancy in the last few weeks haha. Things like yogurt, fresh milk, soy bean milk, black chicken soup and bird's nest soup etc ( no not ice-cream, ate too much of it during pregnancy till I grew sick) :p

Adelaide is a more cheerful and smiley baby than August, though both are very difficult to take care of in the first month. But both are very adorable. A friend commented that my children look very cute. Well, like mother like children mah hahaha

Haven't been posting for quite some time already :P ... cos now busy preparing for the arrival of Adelaide. Her Chinese name is now confirmed to be Jiaxin, after months of studying 姓名学 and considering many aspects ... :D

Yaoren on the other hand, has kept himself busy with learning new skills and getting into mischief. :D

This video was taken about 2 weeks after Yaoren first learnt how to brush teeth. I think Yaoren has made some progress already. Initially he will just put the toothbrush inside his mouth and start sucking on his toothpaste and refusing to take it out. Now he will take out the toothbrush after brushing and sorta stir the brush in his cup before brushing again. After brushing, I will let him drink some water so as to 'flush' the toothpaste down ha ha. Cos I was afraid that if I teach him how to rinse his mouth now, he might spit out water whenever he feels like it. So it's better that I don't teach him how to rinse now he he

Yaoren likes to play with the DVD player. He will touch and press any button he can see. He has even learnt to open and close the DVD tray, and take out the DVD on it. Once, his father caught him pressing hard on the tray. If he was not stopped in time, he might spoil the player. So now we will always forbid him from touching the player or any other electric appliances cos it's dangerous (both the electric appliances and himself).

Every time we tell him not to touch the player, he will cry (or pretend to squeeze out tears), hit his walker, pause and look at us again, as if he wants us to console him and tell him it's okay to play with the thing. But no no, we need to be firm on this. :/

Yaoren taking vaccination again

The last time Yaoren had vaccination was about half a year ago, the last jab of 6 in 1. At 14 months, he took his pneumococcal vaccination. He will be having 2 more vaccinations (Pneumococcal vaccination no. 2 and mmr with chicken pox) soon but it will interfere with my confinement period. Hence we are thinking of postponing the remaining vaccinations till I am out of confinement. Adelaide will also be 'out' soon and there will begin a new cycle of vaccinations again! Not to mention that Yaoren and Adelaide are visiting their docs at different hospitals... ^_^"

Brushing teeth

The 1st time I gave Yaoren a toothbrush (which was for kids), it was for fun only and he bit the brush till some of the hairs came out. I think it was because I did not tell and show him what to do with it. So after talking to Eng Wee and Pamela, I decided to buy Yaoren a baby toothbrush and toothpaste, and formally teach him to brush everyday. I will stand opposite him and show him how I brush my teeth. The pic above shows him brushing (or sucking the toothpaste) for the first time. Thank goodness he did not intend to bite the hairs out of the brush.

I had decided to let him use toothbrush cos he was always fed up with us trying to clean his teeth using either handkerchief or the baby rubber toothbrush (which you stick your finger into it and clean the baby's teeth and tongue). He would bite furiously until our fingers turned red.

So from now on, with the use of his personal toothbrush, I will try to make brushing teeth fun for him so that he does not dread it (and we will not suffer again). :)

Friday at my Sister's Place

Every Friday, we will go over to my sister's house, since my parents and youngest sister stay there now. My sis, Hui, has two kids, Rui En is about 2 and half years old and Jie Ming is 1 year and 3 months plus, just 5 weeks older than Yaoren. Usually Yaoren will interact more with Rui En. He and Jie Ming sometimes seem to ignore each other. Dunno why but I think kids of their age find their peers not fun to play with.

Was trying to take a pic of them playing together when Rui En suddenly sensed it, and started posing. :D

Yaoren fell sick

Yaoren vomitted quite a few times when he was eating solid food these two weeks. As he is often difficult during meal times, I thought it was due to his crankiness that he vomitted. Until a few days ago, I noticed his stomach bulged out and I realised that he was having stomach wind. He usually has stomach wind every 3-4 months. And I failed to notice that....

So we quickly gave him medicine and the next day, he kept farting (even during mealtimes. By the way, he often passed motion during mealtimes too :/). After a few days of medication, he is now better already but his appetite for solid food has reduced. I also noticed he has shrank a bit, makes me sad... but I will try to fatten him soon!

When we gave Yaoren medicine, we told him it is strawberry and orange. :D Thankfully he did not resist even though the orange medicine was pretty strong. He kinda liked the taste haha. Aiksoon gave him medicine using spoon and fed him water using syringe when he snatched the spoon away. Both Yaoren and Aiksoon must have found it fun to drink/feed water using syringe, so now Aiksoon has been feeding him water this way and Yaoren is drinking water from the syringe gleefully. Like father like son :/

Re 2nd pregnancy

I am 31 weeks pregnant already, now ready for countdown. It seems very fast but seriously, I think this pregnancy is too draggy... Cos I feel a bit sian to experience all those pregnancy symptoms again (though I do not have morning sickness or very very slight one, cos I did not vomit at all) and it was quite a problematic pregnancy to start with.

The first 3 months was quite worrying, as some of you might know, cos I had quite a serious fall earlier at home in the 1st month of pregnancy and any major movements, including carrying Yaoren, would result in bleeding. My gynae told me to rest at home. My parents and in-laws told me to lie down more on the bed. Indeed, I found that if I walk or stand alot, there will be bleeding. And I dreaded going to toilet. Every time I had bleeding, I would quickly lie on my bed as advised and talk to my unborn child, asking him/her to be strong and hang on. Luckily even though there were some serious bleeding, the baby persevered.

It was a tough period for us. Aiksoon was very worried about me that time, but he had to go to Thailand for reservist training for 3 weeks plus. He bought alot of Chinese herbs like yang shen and pao shen for me before leaving. I drank those herbal soup everyday until I became sick of the taste. During that period, I felt very lonely and helpless. Fortunately, my parents and in-laws would come over frequently and accompany me. Sometimes they would also buy me breakfast, lunch and dinner. :) They helped me alot cos being cooped up at home for such a long period would give me negative thoughts. Luckily it's all over and now, in less than 2 months, the baby will be born. It's a 'she'. No wonder the pregnancy was unstable in the beginning, cos girls are more '娇气'， as a colleague mentioned later.

But I also found out later that there are some more differences in pregnancy symptoms between expecting a boy and a girl. With Yaoren, maybe it's due to the male hormones in the baby, I had a lot of mood swings and was very emotional. I also became angry easily, sometimes for no apparent reason. With Adelaide, I am hardly angry. It is difficult for me to get angry in fact. I feel alot more peaceful than when I was expecting Yaoren. But I am also more clumsy with Adelaide. I was very fit when I had Yaoren. I can climb up many flights of stairs without feeling out of breath.

The final trimester now is tedious. With the weight gain and the horrible heat, I feel tired easily. I also become breathless easily when I am carrying Yaoren (Adelaide will 'protest' cos I think she will feel uncomfortable), walking for long distances and climbing up stairs. But thankfully, all these will be ending in approx 6 more weeks. Then I will feel relieved! YAY!

It was very hot when we took him to the neighboourhood playground yesterday but both Yaoren and his father were game enough to try all the slides and rides. Yaoren still needs assistance though as he has not learned how to walk yet. We only let Yaoren practise on his own in the playpen and we did not train Yaoren at all. I guess when he is ready, he will learn to walk.

Why Yaoren dislikes feeding time

Recently we bought a portable hard disk to store all our digital photos, including wedding photos and baby photos. I have even made ready Adelaide's folder, and Yaoren's folder alone contains 1200+ photos and videos! Today's kids are so fortunate!

When he becomes cranky during feeding time, and I do not want to spank him (I get heartbroken for 2 days 2 nights last time I did), I bullied him. I drew moustache on his face using rice cereal. HAHA It made me laugh and I was no longer angry. He also found it amusing even though he did not know what was happening (why Ma Ma laugh like crazy??!!)! Bwahahaz

Have I mentioned Yaoren is especially loud and active on the bus and taxi before?

Well everytime he takes a bus, he will catch the attention of every passenger. He is very restless on the bus and taxi. He will want to touch the window, touch the door, pull the emergency hammer on the bus, take out the stickers on the taxi... the list goes on... He just can't stay still. If you forbid him from moving about, he will cry and yell... So it is very hard to carry him on the bus and taxi, and Aiksoon has since resumed the role ever since I am pregnant.

I think it is because he finds it boring to stay still on the same spot every time. Like if he is on the stroller and we stop to look at something, he will become cranky already, and will move the stroller himself by jerking his body forward. SIGH!

He likes to watch TV. Strangely, he watches commercials only. After the commercial breaks, he will resume his business. He can't be interupted when the TV is showing commercials. You can talk loudly or dangle something in front of him but you just can't get his attention at all. You are simply invisible during commercial breaks. ^_^"

Now that I am in the final trimester, I have been taking lots of sinful food to fatten Adelaide. (Actually I started fattening baby in the 2nd trimester already! he he) Been eating lots of ice-cream! This is the same formula that I used to fatten Yaoren last time. And for both pregnancies, I did not eat a lot of durians, which is thought to be the tradional way to fatten babies. In the 1st pregnancy, I ate less than 1 durian I think. This pregnancy, I have not eaten any at all, but Adelaide is still growing well. So I guess I will still stick to my own formula. he he

Whenever I took out ice-cream, Yaoren will say uh uh to me loudly, his own way of saying gimme food! He loves to eat ice-cream you know! He has learnt how to lick ice-cream already! He is also not afraid of its coldness. Even if we have finished ice-cream and he understands that, he will still cry if I take the ice-cream stick away from him. SIGH.

Every weekend, we will pop over to his grandmother's house in the evening and this is a pic of Yaoren and his Ah Ma, taken in Sept.

Last time I attached one pic of him and Ah Ma which was taken on National Day 2008 but the pic only showed Yaoren and Ah Ma's leg and arm. Ha ha

Cos I did not know if Ah Ma will mind me attaching pics of her on the web. But Aiksoon said go ahead, so now you are able to see Ah Ma's 真面目. ha ha

We had invited James over to our house for a gathering since we have not seen him for a while. The pic was taken on 3rd sep, during the one week holiday.

Normally Yaoren is okay with people whom he has never met before. But he does not like them to carry him. So it is quite surprising that Yaoren lets James carry him. Yaoren even digs James' pocket for treasures. haha

I had wanted to let Yaoren go swimming after he reaches one year old. But Aiksoon was afraid that I will fall while taking care of Yaoren, cos Yaoren is super active and I am heavily pregnant now. So we agreed to buy a small rubber swimming pool for Yaoren instead and let him swim at the comfort of our home. We bought one that was suitable for children under 3. But when we reached home and opened up the box, we found that it was smaller than Yaoren's bath tub! He can't move about in the pool. It should have read: suitable for children under 1. :(

But Yaoren was so excited about the tub. He almost lunged towards the pool the minute he saw it. He likes to play with water you know. We gave him bath toys to play with in the pool. He was contented with playing in the small pool, and splashed the water repeatedly. He did not even mind Aiksoon using rubber duck to squirt water on his face. Yaoren enjoyed 'swimming' so much that we decided to include the activity every Sat/ Sun. :D

We have also recently bought a much bigger swimming pool for Yaoren recently. But since Yaoren is satisfied with his mini swimming pool, we have decided to keep it first till Adelaide is born and then both can splash about in the pool. hehe

Yaoren likes to grab our spectacles whenever he has a chance. When he sees us wearing spectacles, he will smile wickedly and then grabs our spectacles quickly. Sometimes when he is angry with us, he grabs our spectacles too. Bad boy!

I have mentioned earlier that he is a pro actor, a cunning baby! Well last night he strikes again. He wanted to grab my spectacles again but was unsuccessful many times. Then he pretended to stretch his hand and aimed at a toy which was near me, but changed his direction quickly and aimed at me instead! Cunning right?! Well I am much more agile than he thinks! I turned away quickly. Knowing he is unsuccessful again, he slapped his hand on his knee. Wah this boy... very dangerous...SIGH...

This is what Yaoren looks like when he is trying to pass motion.

Genuine one: becomes quiet suddenly. Nose also becomes red cos he is 'trying very hard' to do big business.

Fake one (yes he knows how to act!): When we say um um, he will 'try his best' to act like he is passing motion but the nose does not become red. He will also be busy with something else, definitely not quiet. But he is quite a pro you know. He acts immediately whenever we say um um. ha ha

Another example that Yaoren can act. He always like to snatch the spoon from whoever is feeding him. Then he puts the spoon in his mouth and pretends to eat. If he does not succeed, he will try again. He will say 'mum mum', and before the spoon enters his mouth, he will quickly snatch it away! Cunning right? Though I must say he is extremely quick.

We went to my parents-in-laws' place that afternoon. All dressed in red and white. Mother-in-law also joined in the celebration by wearing a red top. :D

Weeks before Yaoren's birthday celebration, we went to Takashimaya and bought toys for Yaoren and Adelaide, including a buggy ride, a train set and Disney Princess dolls. haha.. :D

It's a pity that Yaoren did not know how to play with the toys yet. He is only curious in dismantling the toys and the boxes... sigh... I dunno if the other kids are like that or not, because Yaoren always like to play with the boxes and not the toys. Funny. :/ I hope he will learn to play with the toys a few more months later...

Aiksoon, being a doting father, set up the Winnie the Pooh train set for Yaoren's birthday and decorated it with winnie the pooh soft toys. Because the train always got stuck in some parts, he tried for a long time to make the train set work properly. Aiksoon is always more patient than me. If it were me who have to set up the train set, I think I will become impatient and angry after trying for some time. But Aiksoon fixed the train set till late, and tried experimenting the toy again the next morning... :) He was also the one who woke up early and prepared all the food for Yaoren's birthday celebration. There was a big spread of delicious food on that day. :D

This is one of my fav pics of Yaoren's birthday celebration. We bought the buttons just one or two days before his birthday at Carrefour. :D

It was mainly Aiksoon who did the whole birthday decor, including the balloons and the rest of the setup. We finished it on the night before Yaoren's birthday, and Aiksoon accompanied me till about 2am, as I had to rush out Yaoren's compilation of pics and make into a video.

Here are pics of Yaoren's birthday celebration on 10th Aug 2008.

We had a Winnie the Pooh theme party on that day, with all the balloons and cake. :D We invited our parents and siblings and had a small celebration.

Basically I do not think Yaoren knew what was happening until everyone was singing him a birthday song and he looked very happy. But before the song was finished, he stepped on his cake! hehe Guess I did not hold him tightly then. Yaoren also had his first taste of a cake later but his expression was rather bitter though he was eating sweet chocolate cake. ^_^"

Near the end of celebration, all kids came out to blow and play with bubbles. The idea was mine. Brilliant right? All kids loved it. Aiksoon even brought out sparklers to play with in broad daylight. haha

Overall I think the birthday celebration ended well. I may be doing the same thing for Adelaide in future. But I will definitely change the theme. Aiksoon suggested Disney Princess theme but I prefer Melody. :D haha

My colleague Yang Yan has commented that Yaoren's hair is quite long already. :)

Actually Yaoren just got his haircut about a week before his birthday, around early August. His hair grows long quickly and I have to cut it every 2 months approximately. When he was younger, it was worse. I have to trim the hair more frequently.

Anyway Aiksoon brought him to safra bowling centre two days ago, and some bowlers smiled and played with Yaoren, saying "hello girl girl". Ha ha Chabo Yaoren! That explains why my up and coming baby is a girl le. hehe

Above is a pic of Yaoren when he was 2 months and 5 days old, with overgrown pastures, hair standing up all the time. He got his first haircut when he was 4 months old. This is also my all time favourtite pic of Yaoren. It reminds me of how angelic Yaoren was last time. Now of course no longer angelic.

We have been trying to teach Yaoren to drink from cup starting from last week. But normally it's us holding the cup for him to drink. Yesterday his father gave him the freedom to hold the cup himself... He is okay with it for a while.. and then guess what happens...

Been busy these few weeks... especially when it's the last term...

But why am I still posting?? Ha ha
Too stressed already... Must find something interesting to do!

Well I finally got my cbox! Been trying many times since I got my blog but can't get the code pasted successfully. Now then I realise my error. I did not copy the entire code. :( So blur!

Anyway Yaoren was quite naughty last night (every day and night in fact), especially when eating solid food. He is kind of tired of eating the same porridge and cereal everyday. But when we give him something new, he will be interested in the food for a while and then starts being cranky again. He likes rice but he doesn't like to eat it in big amounts. So... I don't know how to deal with him sometimes during feeding and will be quite impatient.

But Aiksoon has tried feeding him recently and Yaoren seems okay with that. When his father feeds him, he is very happy. I think that's because Aiksoon knows how to cheer him up. Above is a video of Aiksoon feeding Yaoren. Yaoren laughs until he vomit a bit later. ^_^"

Hi hi!

I must admit I am kinda slow to start a blog when my baby is 13 months old already... hehe

It is only recently when I joined Facebook and uploaded my baby's photos that I discovered that this is not enough... Facebook has limited audience and I want the world to see my adorable baby! haha
I am also inspired by colleagues and friends around me who have created blogs for their kids.
